Rude Refugee Diaries
Gyath, Khaled, and Juma, three young Syrians have moved to Beirut in 2011 and met for the first time here, after the demonstrations took place in Syria. The film follows separately the three characters in their everyday life, shares their individual experiences, and questions the relationship that each one of them has with Beirut, a difficult city to build a warm and quick relationship with, especially when those young men are scattered between what’s happening in their homeland and surviving in a city away from their families and usual contexts.

About The Director
Born in Kobani, north of Syria in 1984, Juma Hamdo graduated from the University of Damascus with a BA in Media studies. Since 2008, Juma has been working as a freelance director and researcher. After attending many regional and international workshops and cooperating with various artists, he has directed several independent short documentaries and experimental video projects. Currently, Juma is working on his mid-length documentary “Rude Refugee Diaries” in Beirut.
