About The Director
Erige Sehiri is a Tunisian-French director and producer. With her own production company, HENIA, she develops Tunisian author-driven documentaries distinguished at VISIONS DU REEL, IDFA, CINEMED…
In 2018, her breakout feature documentary, RAILWAY MEN, remained six weeks in Tunisian theaters. In 2021, she wrote, directed and produced her first fiction feature, UNDER THE FIG TREES, which won several post-production awards at the Venice International Film Festival (Final Cut in Venice). She then joined the selection of the 54th Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at Cannes 2022.
About the Producer
Having started as a film technician and after being involved in several projects in cinema associations and film festival scenes, Mohamed co-founded HAKKA Distribution in 2013.
The first distribution company specialized in art house films, today one of the most active companies in Tunisia.
He is managing two art house cinemas, AMILCAR in Tunis since 2015 and the METROPOLE in Menzel Bourguiba, which reopened in March 2019. He is also the founding president of ÉCHOS Cinématographiques, an association active in promoting cinephilia for the
marginalized audiences since 2017.
Mohamed has taken on the challenge of allowing auteur films to access the largest number of screens across the country, building a healthy economic model in a context where cinemas were closing and the public had almost no access to auteur films.
