Beirut Cinema Platform

We bring together Arab filmmakers with potential partners from around the world. Co-producers, sales agents, fund and festival representatives, and whomever else might help them bring their film projects to the big screen.

The 6th Edition

Beirut Cinema Platform returns for a 6th edition in its new and expanded online format that started in 2021. Much has happened since. Lebanon’s crisis has reached new lows, the Arab region continues to face troubling challenges on all levels and the shortcomings of our globalized world are more and more visible. Making films is becoming more challenging, especially in our part of the world. Our commitment to support Arab filmmakers in their journey is our way to resist. Cinema and culture must keep fighting for freedom of speech and social justice.
In our 2022 edition, 16 projects – fiction and documentary, in development, and in post-production- are selected. They shed a light on issues all over the Arab region in Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, Tunisia, Yemen. For two weeks, the teams of filmmakers (writers, directors, producers) get consultations, introductions, and masterclasses catered to their needs in all fields from scriptwriting to production, passing by legal, directing, sound, impact distribution, funding, and packaging. These mentorships will allow the participants to be better prepared for their 3 days of meetings with around 90 film professionals. These encounters along with the awards granted by our partners aim to help the projects evolve and find their path to success.
This year’s selection is marked with protagonists searching for the truth, either by investigating political and social issues or pursuing more intimate quests exploring identity and sexuality. Women and men are trying to break free from patriarchy and question the gender balance of our civilization. Sickness and diseases are omnipresent. The search for a healer is necessary yet unattainable.
We believe in the urgency and power of these narratives and invite you to embark on their journeys. Together, we can create a more hopeful future.

The Platform

BCP has come to establish itself as a mainstay in the regional industry calendar, all while preserving its unique intimate atmosphere.
Beirut Cinema Platform is a co-production platform designed to bring Arab independent producers/filmmakers, holders of feature-length film projects (documentary and fiction) with regional and international industry professionals.
These meetings aim to forge new cinematic alliances
Co-producers, commissioning editors, sales agents, and festival and fund representatives meet with the film teams over the course of three days.
to encourage project development, co-productions and collaborations, facilitating the access to regional and international financing, and promoting the exchange of expertise between the participants and the film professionals.
At the end of the event gathering more than 60 talents and experts, a jury composed of 3 professionals hand prizes to film projects in development and post-production.
BCP distinguished itself by championing films which tackle complex and daring subjects
With the aim of supporting the biggest number of project holders, BCP launched an ‘out-of-competition’ section. A limited number of feature-length projects in development are selected to profit from the presence of remarkable film experts.
and by prioritizing projects that have not yet made it to the industry radar.
“This platform has become the most important event for Arab filmmakers to present their work to the world, yet it has kept its intimacy and warmth. BCP is our great little meeting point and I will cherish my memories of it.”

- Hala Lotfy, Filmmaker and Producer

“The only platform that I know, where meetings are such a great mix of matchmaking and tutoring: those supposed to learn not always being those you would imagine!”

- Gabrielle Dumon, Producer
