Barka

Barka is a fiction based on the real story of a French Jesuit priest who arrived in 1982 to Barka, an isolated Christian village in the Lebanese Bekaa valley. Despite rising sectarian tensions due to the civil war, the priest will strive to improve the living conditions and encourage the inhabitants to hold on to their land. When he becomes the victim of his own project, his legacy will impact Barka in a timeless way.

About The Director

Wassim Geagea is a young Lebanese filmmaker, born in Barka in 1989. He studied Cinema at the Lebanese University. Geagea’s graduation film “My Grand Father’s photo” won several awards, of which the first prize at the European Film Festival in 2011. Geagea is currently pursuing a Masters degree in filmmaking. His first feature film “Barka” is a tribute to the man who inspired him to become who he is today.
