Beauty and the Dogs

Tonight, Myriam a young Tunisian student, only wanted to dance. But something terrible breaks her wings. Two police officers rape her. A crime never seen on the screen but that will be present throughout the rest of the film. Despite the trauma and pain, Myriam is adamant: she wants to file a complaint. But can we denounce the police to the police ?

About The Director

Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania studied cinema in Tunisia then in Paris (Fémis and la Sorbonne). She directed several short films including “Wooden hand” (2013), which had a long and successful run on the international festival circuit. Her documentary film “Imams go to school” premiered at IDFA 2010 and was selected in many prestigious festivals. “Challat of Tunis”, her first feature film, was selected in Cannes Film Festival 2014, in the ACID section.
